Paris is one of the most multicultural cities in the world. Musicians from all walks of life cross paths and exchange notes, inspirations… It is in this social reality that seems distant to us today, in 2007/2008 that bassist Raymond Doumbé proposed this meeting.
A bassist of Cameroonian origin, then a conductor for Miriam Makeba, he organized a few jam sessions to bring together musicians whom he enjoyed, for the pleasure of playing, of making sound. Saxophonist Jon Handelsman (New York) trumpeter David Lewis (Australia) trombonist Pierre Chabrèle (Martinique) over a Parisian rhythm with Philippe Monange (keyboards) and Etienne Brachet (drums) – Canadian-born singer Kania Allard gives a voice to the band, to this mix of diverse origins gathered in Paris, as a meeting point – A Melting Point.
Recorded in 2008 by a group with diverse and varied origins. A meeting point in Paris for jazz music tinged with Afro-Caribbean origins, an original and captivating universe with a beautiful version of the standard “Summertime” …
